Art Course – July Intake on-going @ Nairobi Art Centre

Take your artistic skills to a new level with our all new 4 week intensive drawing and painting course. It will take four months to complete the whole program but can be taken 4 weeks at a time.  Work with a variety of subjects including the figure, natural objects and printed images. You will learn about sketching, drawing and painting.  We will challenge you to rethinking the use of colour and mark making.  You will learn about light, shadow and perspective.  You will also learn to work with watercolours, pastels, charcoal and acrylics. As you progress, you will have the opportunity to work individually with your tutor to devise your own project. Must be able to commit to one day a week for four weeks.

Junior Art @ Nairobi Art Centre

This programme offers more challenging drawing techniques and more room for imagination that will sharpen visual skills of children and enhance their artistic confidence. Older kids enjoy details, complexity and realism in their artwork. Children will learn to draw through discerning shapes, sizes, space, distance and proportion. They will be taught the colour theory, colour scheme, light / shadow, blending / shading techniques, brush drawing, monochromatic painting, pointillism etc. Students will be introduced to a wide range of painting media: pastels, water-colour, ready-mix paint, acrylic, ink, pencils and different painting surfaces. They will learn the application of these mediums on different bases to create artworks of distinct effects.

Suitable for children age 7 years, 8 – 10 years, & 11 – 12 years respectively.

Kinder Art @ Nairobi Art Centre

Young children are fascinated by every mark they make, colour they mix and form they create. Hence, lessons are conducted in an interesting and motivating manner that not only stimulate creativity, but also satisfy curiosity in young children. Children are encouraged to draw and paint independently with the use of various art mediums such as pastels, water-colour, ready-mix paint, acrylic, ink, pencils and even their bare hands. They will also learn to paint on different types of surfaces. Children will learn to draw by using their sense of touch and sight. They will be taught the basics of some advance techniques such as brush drawing,  Recycled project, 3D,pencil shading, and pointillism etc.

Suitable for children age 3 – 4 years & 5 – 6 years respectively.

Pottery Class
Sep 22 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

There is something very soothing and therapeutic working with clay.  Give it a try!  Work with clay and have a go on a potter’s wheel.  Learn how to make objects, pots, cups, vases etc.  Instructor utilizes various techniques such as coiling, pinching, slabbing, and throwing on the wheel. Firing objects in the kiln are completed after class – keep in mind, it takes up to two weeks to be fully dry and ready for painting.  Don’t forget to ask about our special Pottery  course  on Wednesday mornings.
